Congratulations to 4th grader Valerie Gonzalez Lara, Character Without Question recipient from Shadow Oaks!

Every year, SBISD honors students district-wide who reflect a depth of character and a caring for human beings. Students are selected for demonstrating an enduring commitment to any or all of the following character traits: honesty/integrity, responsibility/dependability, respect, perseverance/effort, courage, caring/kindness, and citizenship/civic virtue.

Valerie’s counselor, Sayuri Rubio, wrote, “Valerie has a go-getter mentality. Her dedication to do better is amazing. She comes from very little and although the language is a barrier sometimes, she doesn't let it hinder her. She puts her entire energy into everything she does. She has accomplished a lot in the little time she has been in this country. She is respectful and she is always willing to go the extra mile to help her peers.” Valerie was selected for her commitment to being honest, dedicated and responsible.
